Professional Stump Grinding in Sittingbourne
Tree stumps can be left behind after a tree has been removed, or may have been in place for many years. Stump grinding is an effective way to remove the remaining stump below ground level and reclaim the space.
Complete Tree Work carries out stump grinding for stumps of different sizes, whether as part of a tree removal job or as a standalone service. Removing a stump can help eliminate trip hazards, make lawn care easier and create space for future landscaping or replanting.

How Stump Grinding Works
A stump grinder uses a rotating cutting wheel to gradually grind the stump down below ground level.
Our team at Complete Tree Work reduces the stump in stages, including the surrounding roots where accessible. The resulting woodchip and soil mixture can either be levelled off and left in the area, or cleared away, depending on what has been agreed.
The finished area can then be reused.

Stump Grinding FAQ
How far below ground level do you grind the stump?
The grinding depth depends on what you want to do with the area afterwards and the access to the stump. In most cases, 4–6 inches below ground level is enough for general tidying and laying turf. For larger projects such as landscaping, we can grind up to a foot below ground level or more where access and conditions allow.
Can you grind large tree stumps?
Yes. Large stumps can be ground out using suitable machinery, and the process is similar to removing smaller stumps. The main difference is how long the work takes and how much material is produced during the grinding process.
Can you grind stumps close to fences, walls or other obstacles?
Yes. Providing there is enough access for the machinery, we can grind stumps close to fences, walls and other obstacles. We assess the surrounding area first and work carefully to remove as much of the stump as the available space allows.
What size access do you need for your machinery?
The width of a standard garden gate is all we need.
